NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY LISBURN, NORTHERN IRELANDAs newborn photographers, we adore capturing those heart warming moments of little bundles of joy. The sheer cuteness and innocence of newborns are simply irresistible! We cherish our clients and do everything possible to make their newborn photo sessions unforgettable. You will quite often see newborn photographers saying their job is the best profession in the world, because we truly love what we do, day in and day out. Every element of it, from the session and snuggles to the tea and biscuit-filled editing marathons. However, there are a few secret little things that might drive us, photographers, just a tad bonkers! In this lighthearted blog post, we'll let you in on the "secret" pet peeves of newborn photographers, while sharing some fun tips on how to make your baby photo session a breeze. So, grab your popcorn and let's dive into the delightful world of newborn photography! 1. Tardiness Tango: We photographers are all about capturing the perfect moments, but time is precious during a newborn session. When clients arrive late, it can throw off the schedule and lead to less time for those adorable poses. So, let's dance to the beat of punctuality and arrive on time to maximise cuteness! Especially if your session falls on the weekend. Remember we usually have families, who wait for us to finish work, too. During the week, we have school runs and other work related things in the calendar. Please be punctual. Leave yourself plenty of time in case there is traffic or your dinky one needs last minute feeding. 2. The Overbearing Entourage: We absolutely love family involvement, but when there's an entire entourage of friends and relatives crowding the studio, it can be a bit overwhelming. To ensure a serene and comfortable atmosphere, bring along just the immediate family members for the session. 3. On-the-Go Snacks: A growling tummy can disrupt the peacefulness of the session. As much as we adore snacks, let's keep the munchies away from the studio floor to avoid any accidental crumbs finding their way into the photographs. 4. Over-the-Top Props: Photography props are fantastic, but there's a fine line between cute and cluttered. We appreciate your creativity, but let's avoid bringing in an entire toy store. The focus should be on the precious newborn, not a sea of props! Especially low on our love list are massive crochet bunnies and caterpillar outfits made in China. They are bulky, and you can barely see your baby when they have those on. Avoid, avoid. 5. "Pinterest Perfection" Expectations: Pinterest is a treasure trove of adorable newborn photos, but recreating every pose exactly is an unrealistic expectation. Every baby is unique, and our goal is to capture your baby's individual charm, not replicate someone else's photo. 6. Sleepy or Not to Sleepy: We adore those dreamy, sleepy shots, but not all babies are on the same schedule. Some newborns might prefer to be wide-eyed and curious during the session. Embrace the awake moments as well; they can lead to some unexpectedly charming shots! 7. Camera Overload: We understand how exciting it is to document every moment, but we kindly request that you let us be the "official" photographer during the session. Multiple cameras flashing can be distracting to the baby, making it difficult to capture those picture-perfect expressions. 8. Over-editing Expectations: As artists, we take pride in our editing skills, but let's not go overboard with unrealistic editing requests. Our goal is to enhance the natural beauty of your baby, not create an entirely new and unrealistic version. 9. Ghost of Pacifiers Past: Baby dummies/pacifiers can be a blessing during a newborn session, but they can also leave a trail of "ghost" marks on your baby's face. We'll do our best to avoid those little paci marks, but a little patience and post-session editing can go a long way. If your baby uses a dummy, please bring it with you. It’s a life savour during the shoot. But just as with tight socks, please keep an eye on the marks they create. 10. Photographer Contortionist: We love getting those perfect shots from all angles, but please understand that we're not contortionists! If you see us bending, stretching, or twisting, it's all in the name of capturing the best angle for your baby. If your baby is not comfortable in a pose, we will not carry on. Newborn photographers have a passion for capturing those fleeting moments of pure sweetness and joy. While we may have our secret little pet peeves, the love we have for our clients and their precious babies is boundless. By being mindful of these fun and light-hearted tips, we can create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for your newborn session.
